Election date is announced

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

As most of you will know following the Easter weekend, Mr Brown has formally announced the date of the general election as 6 May.

It is business as usual here at the county council but now that the election has been called we enter a period of time called ‘purdah’.

In simple terms throughout ‘purdah’ the county council cannot undertake any publicity that will allow any party to gain politically.

This means that the county council will avoid publicity that reports the views, proposals or recommendations of a candidate or politician involved in a political party.

This is important so that county council communication doesn’t in any way affect public support of a political party.

This means that this will be my last blog entry until after the election is over. Following May 6th I will endeavour to post an update as soon as possible to keep you all in the loop about my news and views as Leader of the county council.
