New Blog up and running!

Monday, July 27th, 2009

I am delighted to have now got my new Blog up and running on the county council website.

It has been seven weeks since the elections and that time has been incredibly busy. Opposition was hard work, but the Leadership is something else entirely.

I’ve have the privilege of representing Staffordshire and the county council in London, Manchester, Birmingham, Derby and Stoke-on-Trent. I have also visited each of Staffordshire’s eight districts and met with most our public sector partners and a number of Staffordshire MPs.

I have chaired Staffordshire Strategic Board who agreed to work more closely together, uniting our communities under the county motto “The Knot Unites”. There is a K in Knot! This board has all public bodies represented.

We have now held two full meetings of the county council and Cabinet has had its first formal meeting.

I think we’re already starting to make positive changes in many different ways – everything from introducing 20mph zones outside schools to strengthening the county’s commitment to the £100 million BSF project.

I’ll try and keep these updates short and frequent so you know what is going on. I look forward to your feedback.

I now plan to take a second or two to breathe.
